Custom Neurophysiology Analysis and Scientific Support

Research Services Built Around the Study Question

Neuromap can be engaged for a complete EEG analytical workstream or a defined scientific collaboration, from feasibility and quality control to advanced quantitative outputs, longitudinal comparison, publication materials and expert interpretation.

A configurable service rather than a fixed report

No single EEG report is suitable for every research question. Neuromap begins by defining the intended comparisons, available acquisition conditions, participant population, timepoints, confounders, required variables and decision boundaries. The resulting analysis specification identifies which outputs will be produced, how they will be quality controlled and how uncertainty will be reported.

Core research services

Custom analysis design

Translate the research question into a documented set of EEG variables, comparisons, exclusions, quality requirements and output formats.

Advanced quantitative analysis

Integrate selected spectral, ratio, peak-frequency, asymmetry, regional, temporal, connectivity, complexity and network-level measures.

Cohort and subgroup comparison

Support predefined comparisons by visit, exposure, phenotype, age group, responder status, site, device or other authorised study variables.

Longitudinal research

Measure within-participant and cohort-level change across repeated recordings with controlled processing settings and explicit missing-data rules.

Retrospective dataset analysis

Assess existing EEG datasets for technical suitability, recoverable metadata, harmonisation limitations and answerable research questions.

Candidate biomarker hypothesis development

Generate and prioritise exploratory EEG-derived variables for validation in independent datasets. Candidate status does not establish clinical or regulatory qualification.

Methods and reproducibility support

Produce transparent methods descriptions, configuration records, variable definitions, data dictionaries and limitation statements.

Publication figures and tables

Create clear visual and tabular outputs, with accessible source tables, suitable for manuscript development and journal revision.

Scientific interpretation

Explain plausible neurophysiological meaning, alternative explanations, confounding factors and the boundaries of inference.

Grant and protocol support

Contribute EEG feasibility, methods, deliverables, milestones and risk-control language to grant applications and study protocols.

Data-quality control and triage

Structured technical checks and a recoverability assessment that classify recordings as suitable, conditionally suitable or unsuitable for each requested analysis.

Structured data delivery

Approved numerical variables, data dictionaries, quality flags and machine-readable exports configured for the analysis plan or publication workflow.

Neuromap Research Enhancement Programme

The Neuromap Research Enhancement Programme is a structured analysis pathway for organisations evaluating whether a defined intervention changes brain-function measures and whether those changes transfer to functional outcomes. It is suitable for ethically approved research involving cognitive training, behavioural programmes, digital therapeutics, sleep interventions, exercise, rehabilitation, nutrition research, neurotechnology and neuromodulation.

  1. Baseline characterisation: Define the pre-intervention EEG profile, data quality, candidate variables and expected direction of change.
  2. Intervention mapping: Link the research hypothesis to prospectively selected neurophysiological and functional outcomes without presenting the analysis as treatment prescription.
  3. Controlled reassessment: Repeat EEG under matched acquisition conditions and apply the same version-controlled analysis configuration.
  4. Change evaluation: Compare baseline, interim and post-intervention values at participant and cohort level, including new deviations, improvement, stability and regression signals.
  5. Functional integration: Compare EEG-derived change with approved cognitive, behavioural, clinical, performance or caregiver-reported outcomes.
  6. Research guidance: Identify which findings warrant replication, protocol refinement, subgroup analysis, additional controls or a larger confirmatory study.

The programme provides research analysis and guidance. It does not select clinical treatment, guarantee enhancement, replace a clinical team or establish efficacy without an appropriate controlled design.

Publication and manuscript support

  • Methods text aligned with the actual acquisition and analysis configuration.
  • Participant-flow, data-quality and exclusion reporting.
  • Figures, captions, tables and accessible data supplements.
  • Description of reference datasets and limitations.
  • Interpretation that distinguishes observation, association, hypothesis and causal inference.
  • Response-to-reviewer support for EEG methods and quantitative outputs.
  • Conflict-of-interest, funding, ethics and data-availability wording based on verified project information.

Dataset rescue and feasibility triage

Existing EEG datasets may contain inconsistent file naming, missing metadata, variable recording duration, multiple references or site-specific acquisition differences. Neuromap can perform a structured triage to classify recordings as suitable, conditionally suitable or unsuitable for each requested analysis. The output includes a recoverability matrix, recommended restrictions and a defensible route to the strongest answer supported by the data.

Typical research deliverables

  • Feasibility and data-quality report.
  • Analysis specification and variable catalogue.
  • Recording-level and cohort-level quantitative outputs.
  • Longitudinal comparison dataset.
  • Candidate biomarker ranking with validation requirements.
  • Publication figures, tables and methods appendix.
  • Specialist scientific interpretation and limitations statement.
  • Optional secure recorded explanation.

What Neuromap does not guarantee

Neuromap does not guarantee a statistically significant finding, publication, journal acceptance, clinical validity, regulatory acceptance, diagnosis, treatment effect or biomarker qualification. Research outputs depend on the study design, sample size, data quality, protocol adherence, confounding control and suitability of the selected methods.

Frequently asked questions

Common questions about EEG research services and publication support.

Can Neuromap analyse an existing dataset collected without a qEEG protocol?

Possibly. A feasibility review determines which analyses remain technically and methodologically defensible.

Can you help design a new study?

Yes. Neuromap can contribute acquisition, analysis, quality-control, longitudinal and deliverable requirements while the sponsor and investigators retain protocol responsibility.

Can you identify new biomarkers?

Neuromap can generate candidate EEG-derived variables and biomarker hypotheses. Independent validation and, where relevant, formal qualification are required before stronger claims are made.

Can you write the entire publication?

Neuromap can support the EEG methods, results presentation, figures and scientific interpretation. Authorship, accountability and final manuscript decisions must follow journal and research-governance requirements.
